The Maintenance Man Collector Edition edition by MICHAEL BAISDEN Literature Fiction eBooks

I must admit I wasn't sure where this story was going, and I wasn't quite sure how all the characters related, but once I got the hang of the writing flow of Michael's, I loved this book.

What I enjoyed is the fact that there were several people's lives you followed and eventually they each connected in some way. I have to say Malcolm was a very arrogant &^%$*& and I didn't like him at first, but once I got to know the male prostitute, he grew on me.

I felt Michael demonstrated the underworld of male prostitutes with clarity and sincerity and told pretty well. There were some strong characters in this book, one being, Melvin, his surrogate father. And the story of his real father's life was deep and life altering.

As you follow Malcolm, Simon, Cynthia, The Preacher, Aeriel, Toni and Teddy Bear, the lives in which they live will never quite be the same. I loved how it all came together and the ending was heartfelt. There is one part near the end I felt so many emotions it made me cry. When a writer can bring out your own personal emotions in a story, that's some damn great writing. I was pleasantly surprised with this one, and getting ready to read the sequel. I think you will enjoy this short read. It's not too long!

The Maintenance Man Collector Edition edition by MICHAEL BAISDEN Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

5 star because the readers can relate to the events that occurred in the story. Every emotion could be felt, readers could feel as if they were involved or caught up in every turn of events, not only that, there's a lot to this story that's real life and thought provoking.
As an avid reader, I appreciate a good book, and an author who not only makes me as feel involved, but also keep my attention.
When a woman is in need of a good maintenance man, they call on Malcolm. From the way Michael Baisden describes Malcolm, I can understand why the women instantly fall for his arrogant behind. He was entertaining to read, although all the other secondary characters held my attention more. There wasn't as much sex scenes as I assumed there would be and that's ok.

I would have loved to get a update on Ariel's situation during the epilogue. I was kind of left with a couple of questions, but maybe they'll be answered in book 2. I would recommend this novel to anyone looking for a entertaining read.
I have had this book on my shelf and then purchased it on my kindle app. After putting off reading it forever yet again, I finally have read it! I was impressed with the flow and honesty of this book. So many times we as readers, pick up the books that cast us in a bad light and we very rarely see black love displayed so openly. I loved how black love was represented not only between men and women but between men (in a not homosexual way).

This book leads us to know that if we want to see ourselves in a better light we have to support the authors that put us there. I loved Ariel's character the best. Even though she made some bad choices in dating relationships, she still had self respect. She shows that a woman can have it all and still be true to herself.

Keep up the great work Mr Baisden!
This book isn't easy to categorize, it's not just a romance or a social commentary or urban fiction, but a mix of all of these. Primarily the book follows the story of Malcolm, an attractive and talented jazz pianist who studied at Julliard but who pursues a "career" as a male escort. It also follows the life of his best friend Simon, who grew up on Chicago's south side with Malcolm but is now a successful nightclub owner in Atlanta. Weaving the stories of their lives and relationships in with the people who work for them or around them allows the author to compare and contrast different types of adult relationships.

Malcolm has totally superficial interactions that are basically cash for services rendered with women, but some deep and abiding friendships with men he can trust . When he meets a woman that he actually falls in love with, he's not quite sure how to handle it outside the "player's rules". Simon has committed to his girlfriend and is engaged even though she cheated on him before. When she starts to act strangely, he hires private eye to see if she's cheating again. Simon's club manager is an attractive woman who just seems to date the wrong men, looking for someone who won't be intimidated by her intelligence and ends up hurting the one who's the best friend she has. An exotic dancer at Simon's club treats women with contempt, but gets away with it because of his good looks and charm, until he cheats one time too many and ends up homeless, then gets arrested as a deadbeat dad, and finally meets the vengeance of a jealous husband.

It's an interesting look at how people approach their most intimate relationships; do they neglect them by working too much, causing their partner to look elsewhere? Do they know what they want out of a relationship or are they not sure and keep searching, hoping they'll find something that will fix what's wrong with them? Do they look for a"fixer upper", sure that they can change and save them? Are they just not interested in ever committing to just one person and want to keep playing the field as long as possible? This is a story that raises many questions, but I can't be confident in anyone's HEA.

Heat factor moderate.
This book was recommended by a new friend I made at work. Melissa. It was not at all what I expected. I started reading it thinking it was like 50 shades of Grey. But no where near. This story has made me stop and think about my life as a single woman. I've only been single about 6 months. I'm 49. I want to be happy with just me. No I'm not gay. But ive never had the chance to Just be me. It's hard and lonely learning to be happy with just myself. But this book has opened my eyes to ways I can learn to love me. Thank you, Michael Baisden
